Licensing

How licenses work in EternalSystem from a server operator's point of view: what is free, what needs a key, and how to enter it.

Note

The license applies network-wide. You enter a key once in the dashboard and it unlocks the modules on every server in the network – not per server.

Free base

These modules are free right now and run without any key (the list comes live from the license server):

ModuleNameContents
coreBasisBasis-Befehle: tp, home, warp, spawn, fly, gamemode, msg, vanish …
punishmentsStrafen/ban, /mute, /history, Bann-Screen, Entbannungsanträge
reportsReports/report, Report-Bearbeitung im Dashboard
lobbyLobbyNavigator, Cosmetics, Doppelsprung, Lobby-Schutz, Hotbar-Items von Nick/Party

This is enough to fully moderate a network without paying anything.

What needs a license

All other modules need an EternalSystem license – currently: Replay, Chat-Logs, Social Spy, Inventar-Sync, Item-Tracking, Sperren, Coins, Aktienmarkt, AdminShop, MagicItems, Perks, Autonicker, Party & Freunde, Clans, Plots, Farmwelten, Spielmodi, Eternal Cloud, Eternal Perms, Proxy-Anzeige. An overview of all modules is in Modules & Presets.

Note

EternalSystem decides which modules belong to the free base, and this can change. This page always shows the current state; under License the dashboard shows what is free for your network right now.

Individual free features

Not only entire modules can be made free, but also individual features – exactly the entries from Server → Zuordnung ("Assignment"): commands (cmd:pay), listeners (listener:perks), services (svc:economy), background tasks, permission categories and config sections. A module of which only part is free shows up under Dashboard → Lizenz ("License") as teilweise frei ("partially free"); expanded, the card lists every feature with its status. The server then loads such a module but enables only the free features.

Gamemodes and bundles

Every gamemode of the catalog is a license unit of its own (gm:<id>, e.g. gm:ttt). A key can unlock single gamemodes or a bundle: a named set of modules and gamemodes that EternalSystem maintains on the license server. When a bundle changes, it applies at once to every key that contains it. A key without restrictions ("all modules") unlocks every gamemode too. The gamemodes module itself (it carries the modes) can be free as well or need a license.

The packages on sale:

_No packages on sale right now._

Buying a license

On the start page under Pricing the packages can be bought directly with PayPal. You enter an email address when buying. After paying, the license key shows up on the page at once and also arrives by mail – enter it under Dashboard → License, done. A refund or chargeback locks the key again.

Customer account

Under Account you sign in with the same email address – no password: you get a 6-digit code (valid for 15 minutes) and a link by mail. The account lists every license bought with that address, with key, state (active, expired, locked), runtime and whether the key is already entered in a network. Signed in while buying, you don't type an address. You stay signed in for 30 days in the browser.

When changes take effect

Immediately. The Eternal API keeps a connection to the license server open. When a key is locked, deleted, expires, or what it (or the free list) unlocks changes, the license server reports it within the same second. The API re-checks and enforces the change:

  • Dashboard: every open dashboard reloads and only shows what is allowed now. The API also blocks unlicensed areas itself: every request there (WebSockets too) is refused with "Lizenzpflichtig" ("license required").
  • Eternal Cloud: if the cloud drops out of the license, the API restarts and no longer starts the cloud – all cloud services are stopped. When the license returns, the API starts again with the cloud. This needs the API to run under a service manager that restarts it (systemd Restart=always as in tools/api/eternal-api.service, or Docker with a restart policy).
  • Servers and proxies: players are disconnected with "The network's license changed – the server restarts", the server or proxy restarts and loads its modules to match the new license. The cloud starts cloud servers again; servers without the cloud use the restart script from spigot.yml (without one they stay off until someone starts them).
  • If the allowed modules don't change (e.g. only the owner name), nothing restarts.

If the license server is unreachable, the last confirmed license stays active (see offline tolerance).

Entering the key

Enter the license key under Dashboard → Lizenz. It then applies network-wide immediately: if it unlocks more than before, the servers restart and load the modules. Alternatively, you can put the key in api.yml under license.key – the dashboard is the more convenient way.

Locked modules

Modules without a valid license are hidden in the dashboard: no menu entries, no buttons or sections for them (e.g. replay, live and inventory buttons, chat history, coins, plots), direct links lead to the start page. Under Module they cannot be enabled. Their commands are not registered on the servers and reply with a notice that the module is not active on this server. So there are never half-working modules – they are either unlocked or visibly locked.

Offline tolerance

The license check runs against the EternalSystem license server. If it is unreachable at some point, the unlocked modules stay active for another 7 days (offline grace). This bridges short outages without the network immediately falling back to the base. Only when the check fails for longer are the paid modules locked again.
