Worlds (farm worlds & more)

The farm-worlds module provides network-wide farm worlds: worlds for mining and gathering that reset themselves regularly. With /farm, players get to the spawn of every farm world – even if it is on another server. Perks, peaceful mode and settings of each farm world are controlled by its world rules.

Note

License: farm-worlds needs an EternalSystem license. Free in the base by default are core, punishments, reports and lobby; which modules are free can change – the dashboard shows locked modules grayed out.

Enabling

  • Module key: farm-worlds (in the dashboard „Farmwelten“, "Farm worlds"), no dependencies. Included in the citybuild and full presets. See Modules & Presets.
  • The setup is network-wide: all farm worlds are stored in the shared configuration farm-worlds.json in the database.
  • Every farm world has a host server (or a cloud task). Only this server creates the world, loads it and runs the resets. /farm works on every server with the module.

World types

In the dashboard under Cloud › Welten, the world types are at the top. Each type has a name, a command (+ aliases) and optionally a permission; the command opens a menu with only that type's worlds, /<command> <world> teleports directly.

TypeCommandNote
Farm world (built in)/farm, /farmweltPermission eternal.farm.use; command fixed
your own, e.g. shop worldfree, e.g. /shopweltSuggestions: shop, event, PvP, build world – or "Eigener Typ" (own type)

Each world gets its type when created (changeable). Worlds of other types do not reset by default (reset every 0 days) – otherwise everything described here applies the same. Every server registers the type commands itself; changes apply within 15 s. Admin subcommands (set, reset, create …) work with every type command; create creates the world in the command's type.

Settings per farm world

Edited in the dashboard or in-game with /farm set <Welt> <Feld> <Wert> (<Welt> = world, <Feld> = field, <Wert> = value):

SettingField for /farm setDefaultMeaning
World name––Name of the world folder; a-z, 0-9, _ and - are allowed
Display namename–Name in the menu
Iconicon–Symbol in the menu
Host serverserver–Server (or cloud task) the world runs on
Environment––NORMAL, NETHER or THE_END
SeedseedemptyEmpty = a new random seed on every reset
Enabledenabled–World on/off
World borderborder6000Size of the world border around the spawn, 0 = none
Portals lead here–onNether/end only: nether portals (or end portals) on the host server lead into this world instead of the vanilla nether/end; the way back leads to the server's farm world. Players still standing in the vanilla nether/end are sent to the spawn on join. The vanilla dimension's folder (world/dimensions/minecraft/the_nether or the_end, before 26.1 world_nether/world_the_end) can then be deleted while the server is stopped.
PermissionpermissionemptyEmpty = everyone with eternal.farm.use may enter
Reset every N daysdays70 = never reset
Reset hourhour4Time of the reset
Weekdayweekday–optional: reset only on this weekday
Warningswarn10,5,1Minutes before the reset at which players in the world are warned
Mob spawningmobsonOff: no mobs by themselves; spawners, spawn eggs and commands still work
Fall damagefallonOff: players take no fall damage in this world
Spawn––set in-game with /farm setspawn
Order––Sorting in the menu

For permission and seed, - clears the value.

Reset

The host server resets the world on schedule:

  1. It warns all players in the world (at the warning minutes).
  2. It teleports them to the server spawn (location of /spawn, otherwise the spawn of the main world).
  3. It deletes the world and generates it again.
  4. It sets the world border around the spawn and puts the spawn on solid ground (in the nether into an air pocket).

The host server reports the state – last and next reset, players in the world, loaded or not – to the dashboard. An immediate reset works in the dashboard or with /farm reset <Welt> confirm from any server.

Spawn schematic & protected zones

Each farm world can have a spawn as a schematic. It is pasted when the world is created and after every reset — slice by slice, without freezing the server, no WorldEdit needed.

  • File: .schem (WorldEdit/FAWE from 1.13) or .schematic (MCEdit, old files from 1.8–1.12). Old files work on every server version: from 1.13 Eternal converts the old block ids to today's blocks; fences, glass panes, walls, stairs and redstone then connect as in the game. Upload under Dashboard → Administration → Farmwelten (max. 15 MB, checked on upload) or as a file on the host server in plugins/Eternal/schematics/, plugins/WorldEdit/schematics/ or plugins/FastAsyncWorldEdit/schematics/.
  • Paste point: pasteX/pasteZ (default 0/0); height automatically on the ground or fixed (pasteY).
  • Height on the ground: The lowest block along the spawn's edge is placed level with the highest ground around it (up to 2 blocks out; trees don't count), so no hill buries a side. A side that then stands 2 or more blocks above the ground gets a ladder at its lowest spot (the entrance), with a pillar behind it. The protected zone includes the ladders. The nether keeps the old height. As in WorldEdit, the schematic's copy origin (the //copy position) lands there. "Paste air too" clears the terrain inside the box.
  • Spawn point: /farm setspawn inside a pasted spawn stores the height relative to the schematic — after the next reset (different terrain) you stand at the same spot in the building again.
  • Only blocks are pasted — sign text, chest contents, entities and biomes are not.

Protection (per farm world):

AreaBuild/breakPvP
Spawn area (schematic box + margin; without schematic: square of margin around the spawn)nono
Up to radius blocks from the spawn (default 250)noyes (if pvp is on)
Further outyesyes (if pvp is on)

Explosions and fire spare the protected area too. eternal.farm.build ignores the build limits (admins).

No monsters at the spawn: No monsters spawn by themselves within 24 blocks of the spawn area. Any that walk in vanish within 2 seconds and attack nobody there. Monsters with a name (e.g. from a name tag) stay.

For players: /farm

/farm (alias /farmwelt) opens a menu with all farm worlds. Every entry shows the players in the world, a countdown to the next reset, and whether peaceful mode is forbidden and which perks are blocked.

  • Click teleports you to the spawn of the world. If it is on another server, the player is switched there via the proxy and teleported on arrival.
  • /farm <Welt> teleports directly.

Admins (eternal.farm.admin) additionally have in the menu: right-click = rules, shift + right-click = reset.

Rules: perks, peaceful mode, settings

Perks, peaceful mode and settings of a farm world are its world rules – the same data, editable in three places: /worldrules, the dashboard page „Farmwelten“ ("Farm worlds") and the page „Welt-Regeln“ ("World rules").

  • Peaceful mode forbidden and blocked perks as for every world.
  • Blocked settings: player settings that are switched off in the world – „Fliegen beim Join“ ("Fly on join", team.fly), „Spielmodus beim Join“ ("Game mode on join", team.gamemode) and „Zwischenlager“ ("Overflow storage", expandedinv.collect). See Player settings.

For this, the /worldrules menu has 54 slots: all perks plus one row for the settings.

Dashboard

Administration → Farmwelten ("Farm worlds", permission eternal.web.farm):

  • Cards per farm world with state and a live countdown to the next reset
  • Editor for all settings
  • Rules (peaceful mode, perks, settings) – saving additionally needs eternal.web.worldrules
  • „Jetzt zurücksetzen“ ("Reset now")
  • Create and delete farm worlds

The dashboard refuses the names world, world_nether and world_the_end.

Permissions

eternal.farm.useAll/farm: open the menu, teleport to the farm world spawns
eternal.farm.buildAdminBuild/break at the farm spawn and inside the protection radius
eternal.farm.adminAdminSet the spawn, create/delete worlds, reset immediately, change rules (in-game)

If a farm world has its own permission, players need that one as well. See Permissions reference.

Versions

Farm worlds run on 1.8 to 26.x. Tested on Paper 1.8.8 and 1.21.11 (create, teleport, set spawn, world border, reset with a new seed, teleport again). See Versions & compatibility.

Common pitfalls

  • The world is not created or not reset: only the host server does that – it must be running and have the farm-worlds module active.
  • The world looks the same after a reset: a fixed seed is set. Clear it (/farm set <Welt> seed -), then every reset gets a new one.
  • A player does not see a farm world or cannot enter it: the world has its own permission, or it is not enabled.
  • Rules cannot be saved in the dashboard: eternal.web.worldrules is missing.
  • The world folder is still there after deleting: intended – /farm delete only removes the entry, not the folder.
  • world refused as a name: world, world_nether and world_the_end are blocked as farm world names.
