CityBuild

The classic CityBuild server: players claim a plot, build, gather resources in the farm world, trade with coins at the shop and found clans. Eternal has had the building blocks for a while – plots, farm worlds, coins & clusters, AdminShop, stock market. The CityBuild gamemode pulls them together: one task that switches on everything needed, plus a protected spawn town, a start package, a daily reward and an overview in the dashboard.

CityBuild is a gamemode (license gm:citybuild). Unlike TTT or SkyPvP the server keeps its worlds: the setup server itself goes live, and plots and builds survive every restart. That is why each task runs one server.

Setting up

  1. Get PlotSquared: PlotSquared is not on Modrinth. Upload the jar (SpigotMC) under Cloud → Plugins. PlotSquared also needs WorldEdit or FastAsyncWorldEdit; get either from Modrinth through the plugin library.
  2. Create the task: Cloud → Gamemodes → CityBuild → Create task. If PlotSquared is already in the library, it goes straight into the task. 4 GB RAM is a good start.
  3. Spawn map: exactly one map of kind Spawn. Upload it as a schematic, or create it empty and build it on the server. Then run /gsetup tp <map> and /gsetup marker spawn where players should arrive (facing direction counts).
  4. CityBuild tab in the dashboard:
    • Install PlotSquared if it is not in the task yet.
    • Pick the coin cluster. Its own cluster means balances that only count on CityBuild.
    • Check which modules run.
  5. Farm world: create one under Cloud → Farm worlds and choose the CityBuild task as its server.
  6. Shop: set up categories and prices under Coins → AdminShop; place the NPC in game.
  7. Plot world: PlotSquared creates the plot world on first start from its own config. Prices, districts and mortgages are under Plots.
  8. Finish setup. The server restarts once and is live from then on, with all the worlds it already has.

You can change maps or markers later at any time with Reopen setup. All worlds are kept then too.

Taking over an existing server

If your CityBuild already runs as its own task (e.g. CB), you don't have to set it up again. Go to Cloud → Gamemodes → CityBuild → Take over existing task and pick the task.

What happens:

  • Worlds, plugins, plots and players stay.
  • The task is live at once.
  • The modules from the CityBuild settings apply after the next restart. The server can restart right away if you want.

What you need to know:

  • The task must be static (Cloud → Tasks). Otherwise worlds would be lost on a restart.
  • The spawn map is optional. Without one, the server's existing /spawn is used. CityBuild's spawn protection only works on its own spawn map.
  • PlotSquared and FAWE are installed into the task's template by the CityBuild tab.
  • Detach gamemode (instead of "Delete task") takes CityBuild off the task again. The task, its worlds and its files stay.

What the gamemode switches on

Settings → Modules decides which modules run on the task. Changes apply after the next restart. If Cloud → Modules sets a module on or off explicitly for the task, that setting wins.

Playing

  • Arriving: depending on Spawn on join, players land at the spawn on every join, only the first time, or never. /spawn always leads to the spawn marker.
  • Start package: new players get coins and items once. This counts across the whole network, not per server (setting Start package).
  • Daily reward: /cb daily pays coins once a day. Every day in a row raises the bonus, up to the configured limit. With eternal.citybuild.daily.double it counts twice.
  • Menu: /cb opens a menu with everything the server offers: plot, farm world, shop, balance, clan, homes, daily reward and spawn. It shows only what is actually running.
  • Plots: PlotSquared only gives its player rights (plots.auto, plots.merge …) to OPs by default. CityBuild gives every player the usual rights (setting Standard plot rights), plus plots.plot.<n> (plots per player) and plots.merge.<n> (largest merge). Ranks can grant more. /plot merge costs coins (prices under Plots; district 1 defaults to 2,500 coins per m²).
  • Spawn protection: only players with eternal.citybuild.build can build on the spawn map. PvP, damage and hunger at the spawn can each be switched off. Falling into the void there brings you back to the spawn.
