/settings & player settings
/settings opens a menu with personal settings: private messages, coins display, sharing the ender chest, peaceful mode, language – and for staff members additionally social spy, flying and game mode on join, report notifications and team chat. The values are stored in the database and apply on all servers.
License: /settings is part of core and therefore of the free base by default (like punishments, reports, lobby). Individual entries only work with their module (e.g. coins display with economy, perks with perks), which need an EternalSystem license. Which modules are free can change – the dashboard shows locked modules grayed out.
Entries belong to their module: where the module is off (e.g. coins), its settings are gone from /settings, /worldrules and the chat menu – so is the perks button without the perks module. Only players with eternal.team see the team chat; without it the team chat is off (nothing received, nothing written).
Usage
| Command | Aliases | Description |
|---|---|---|
/settings | /einstellungen, /prefs, /options | Open the menu. Toggles: green = on, gray = off. At the bottom Perks (opens /perks) and Schließen ("Close") |
/settings <Schlüssel> | Toggle a yes/no setting (<Schlüssel> = key) | |
/settings <Schlüssel> <on|off> | Set explicitly (on, an, true, 1 = on) | |
/settings lang <Wert> | Set the language (see below) | |
/settings team.gamemode <Modus> | Game mode on join |
Tab completion only shows entries the player is allowed to see. The catalog contains the permission eternal.settings (default level All); the command itself is registered in plugin.yml without a permission and can be used by everyone.
Entries for all players
| Key | Name in the menu | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
msg.allow | „Private Nachrichten“ ("Private messages") | on | May others write to you via /msg? Off = also no /trade requests. Staff with eternal.base.msg.bypass always get through |
money.under-name | „Coins unter dem Namen“ ("Coins below the name") | off | Shows the balance below the name (needs economy) |
money.visible | „Coins für andere sichtbar“ ("Coins visible to others") | on | May others see the real balance (/money <Name>, below the name)? Off = scrambled, moving characters below the name |
ec.visible | „Enderkiste einsehbar“ ("Ender chest viewable") | off | May others look into your ender chest with /ec <Name> (view only)? |
peaceful | „Friedlicher Modus“ ("Peaceful mode") | off | Invulnerable, but cannot attack anyone; mobs ignore you; certain worlds are blocked |
lang | „Sprache“ ("Language") | server | Language of all plugin messages |
expandedinv.collect | „Zwischenlager“ ("Overflow storage") | off | When the inventory is full, picked-up items go into the network-wide overflow storage (/ei, taking out only; needs inventory-sync). Visible with eternal.expandedinv.use – see overflow storage |
sb.visible | „Scoreboard“ | on | Show the sidebar scoreboard on the right; template and custom lines via /sb. Visible with eternal.scoreboard.use – see Scoreboard |
Peaceful mode
settings:
# Worlds a player in peaceful mode may not enter (e.g. farm world)
peaceful-blocked-worlds: [farmwelt]
Anyone in peaceful mode who tries to enter a blocked world is stopped and told to turn the mode off in /settings. In a blocked world, the mode cannot be turned on either.
World rules (in-game and in the dashboard)
In addition to the list in config.yml, there are network-wide world rules: per world, "peaceful mode forbidden" and individual or all perks blocked. Blocked perks have no effect in that world (effects and flying turn off when you enter, the player gets a notice) and come back on their own when you leave.
- In-game:
/worldrules [Welt](/weltregeln,eternal.worldrules.admin) opens a menu for the current or the named world ([Welt]= world). For the console:/worldrules farmwelt peaceful on,/worldrules farmwelt perk fly on,/worldrules farmwelt all on. - Dashboard: Cloud → Welten → Welt-Regeln ("World rules",
eternal.web.worldrules) shows all worlds reported by servers, with toggles for peaceful mode and every perk.
In addition, player settings can be blocked per world so they stay off there – „Fliegen beim Join“ ("Fly on join", team.fly), „Spielmodus beim Join“ ("Game mode on join", team.gamemode) and „Zwischenlager“ ("Overflow storage", expandedinv.collect); farm worlds use exactly these rules.
Rules apply to every world with that name on all servers; changes take effect within ≤ 15 s.
Shown rank
Players with several ranks (Eternal Perms) choose with the name tag "Angezeigter Rang" ("Shown rank") at the bottom of the menu which one shows in chat, the tab list, above the head and in the scoreboard – the tab order follows it too. Click = next rank, right-click = previous. The choice is all own ranks (without gamemode packages) and always the default rank. Permissions and the rank in the dashboard stay the real ones. If a chosen rank is taken away, the highest shows again. The name tag only appears when there is more than one choice.
Language per player
In the menu: click = next language, right-click = previous. Via command: /settings lang <server|auto|de|en|…>.
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
server (default) | Language from config.yml → language |
auto | Language of the Minecraft client; if it does not exist, the server default applies |
fixed code (de, en, …) | Every file in plugins/Eternal/translations/ can be selected |
# config.yml – server default
language: de
- To add your own language: create the file
translations/<code>.yml(e.g.fr.yml, ideally as a copy ofde.yml). The keylanguage-nameis the display name in the menu. - The choice applies on all Spigot servers and on the proxy (which receives the change immediately).
- If a language is missing a key, the text appears in the server language.
- Menu texts hard-coded in the plugin (e.g. the labels in the
/settingsmenu itself) stay German.
Entries for staff members
These entries only appear for players with eternal.team and, where listed, the respective permission:
| Key | Name in the menu | Default | Additional permission | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
team.socialspy | „Social Spy“ | off | eternal.socialspy | Read private messages network-wide (like /socialspy) |
team.fly | „Fliegen beim Join“ ("Fly on join") | off | eternal.base.fly | Flight mode automatically on when entering a server |
team.gamemode | „Spielmodus beim Join“ ("Game mode on join") | none | eternal.base.gamemode | none, SURVIVAL, CREATIVE, ADVENTURE, SPECTATOR; click cycles |
team.reports | „Reports empfangen“ ("Receive reports") | on | eternal.report.notify | In-game notification for new reports |
chat.sub.TEAM | „Teamchat“ ("Team chat") | on | – | Read team chat (/tc); can also be toggled in the chat menu /chat |
team.money.see-hidden | „Versteckte Coins sehen“ ("See hidden coins") | on | eternal.economy.see-hidden | See hidden balances below the name in red |
„Spielmodus beim Join“ sets the mode on every server join. On lobby servers, lobby.join.adventure additionally sets adventure mode – which one wins depends on the order. For lobbies, none is the better choice.
Storage
Settings are stored per player in the database and loaded on join. This includes the receive toggles of the chat channels (chat.sub.<KANAL>, <KANAL> = channel, see Chat). Party settings (friend requests, party invitations) are stored separately in the party menu (see Party, friends & clans).
Common pitfalls
- Staff entries are missing:
eternal.teamis missing (wildcards such as*count), or the entry's additional permission. - „Perks-Modul ist auf diesem Server aus“ ("Perks module is off on this server"): the Perks button needs the
perksmodule on this server. - Language only changes partially: texts from the translation files follow the choice, built-in menu texts do not. Missing keys in your own language file fall back to the server language.
- Coins below the name are missing:
economyis off on the server.
